Forty-five minutes to San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is a picturesque colonial town with an upbeat attitude. The architecture is wonderful, the flowers abound, and the town is filled with numerous shops, galleries and restaurants. Bring your walking shoes. The town is crowded so parking is difficult, but there is a taxi on every corner for your convenience and the price is an unbelievable 15 pesos (about a dollar fifty) anywhere in the central city. You can spend the day touring the historical sites, museums and galleries, or if your passion is shopping, your guide will take you to the best stores and when you are finished you and your packages will be picked up and whisked back to Casa Montana where you will enjoy another tranquil evening in Pozos.

Forty-five minutes to Dolores Hidalgo, famous
for its talavera tile and pottery

Dolores Hidalgo is truly a Mexican town—you won't find many foreigners living here. You will find the streets lined with shops filled with colorful talavera tile and pottery. They export tremendous amounts of kitchen and bathroom tile and pottery to the U.S. every year—and you won't believe how good the prices are here in Mexico. You will also find a few interesting furniture stores and antique stores as you enter the town. Dolores Hidalgo has a lovely town square with a beautiful colonial church that you will enjoy visiting. And you'll have no problem finding a good place to eat authentic Mexican cuisine.
